Natural Disasters and Vodka Cigarettes
By DiscordiaDarling
I walked in the room and saw you.
Your precious gaze met mine.
She held on to you tightly,
when she saw you smile in my direction.
Memories flowed through me,
like the drugs we did as angsty teens.
Looking for a place to belong,
any direction but home.
In an instant I was thrust into a flood of emotions.
Our natural disasters that till this day still haunt me.
Hollow emotions and empty promises,
just reminders that we didn't make it after all.
A part of me needed to rip you from her arms.
She wouldn't be much competition I'm sure,
because you still look at me that way.
She sees it too, that's why she can't lose grip on your coat.
I sat there smoking my cigarette,
and I remember how you used to adore it so.
You'd get lost in the aroma of vodka and smoke.
Speaking of dead souls we were to save.
Each glance become more apparent,
as she tugs you away.
I know your yearning,
it's the same as mine so many years ago.
I look upon you and what you've become,
and I don't understand why I cried over you.
(An old work of mine.)

intimations of fear on the faces of those with something to lose... when the attraction can be felt by others in the room, somethings got to give. Here power is not in action but in having a presence that makes others uneasy... forcing them to act, finger

Diabolical in a anti-monogamous yearning. Old love that stays small, cold and blue, like a pilot light but can easily burst back into a flaming inferno. Those teenage bonds are hard to break for sure.

I have found myself there once, and it hurt to see her get pulled away. but it hurt worse to see that flame still in her eyes.

That fifth stanza is especially delectable, but the whole thing is great. Much enjoyed :)
