Birth of Light

By Beluriel

Shining voices filled the night,
The Lady took on her task of birth,
Angels gathered 'round the site.
And awaited the greatest hope for Earth.

Dark forces trembled, sensing power,
Strength and wisdom not their own,
When they saw what was coming, they flinched and cowered,
Earth was no longer theirs alone.

The Lady cried out, her pain subsiding,
She looked at her child, so new to this life,
She glimpsed his destiny, golden, inviting,
Fated to rid Earth of darkness and strife.

The child looked into his mother's bright eyes.
The angels sang shimmering songs in the night,
The Dark Ones wrought havoc as they realized,
The child just born was the Child of Light!
