carnival of stoplights.

By kiss of the dark

His laughter, so contagious.

It tangled my brainstems,
my fingers became lethargic,
and his words made more sense.

He was singing:

"Driving faster in my car,
searching for the way to
your heart..."

In the midst of the
carnival of stoplights,
heavy breaths,
and fogged windows...

He leaned over to me,
and finished his song.

"Wrap the night around you,
smother the wound...
and as I plunge my hand
into your chest,
try not to move."

It will only hurt for a second,
he whispered.

Crisp plunder,
tearing through diligently...

He seized my heart,
and I finally knew.

That the gaping emptiness
was merely a void of
over-abundance.

He knew I loved him so,
and he took the love I had,
and made peace with
the overflowing cerise cavity...

That I, for so long...
called my swelling heart.

(And he loved me.)
