An Ultimate End

By Misanthrope

Fading gospel
These winds soon will sing
To these withering thorns
Talisman of a forgotten king

Nostalgic crow
Your flame is soon to expire
These violet skies once your home
Burn for you a waiting pyre

Righteous owl
Seeks to clip those blackened wings
Asking the darkness his burning question
Looking downwards nocturnal fiend

Once I was so beautiful
Like a sliver from the cross
But like the crow I am also black
Living in shadow but never lost

Death is in bloom
Spreading rumors of a suicidal spring
Taking with it a once perfect dreamscape
Sunburnt scarecrows christening

Fear not my friend
You've lost a father but found a voice
And still this darkness marches on
Reborn in you an inspiring choice

Now we part ways with this funny hole
As it came at such a cost
Deserted now is the sky
While October grieves its loss
