Celestial Ponderings

By fenix2337

"we are but a star in the sky. a mere glimmer of light in the vast darkness of night."

i lay, looking up,
at the stars that are
looking down on me.
it's times like this
everything seems so far.
it's times like this,
we realize how small we are.
a mere glimmer in the sky
and yet so breath-taking.
easily over looked,
a single star can be.
but with so many
it's hard not to see.
there is always one,
or so it seems,
that stands before the rest.
like us all, so small in life,
we struggle to shine our best.
we strive to be
like no other.
we yearn to be
seen by another.
we are all so much more
than what we appear.
but like the star, time will fade us.
this is what we fear.
from so far away,
in a mass of so many,
we may all look the same.
but inside we are all unique
in our own little way.
it's a shame
that at our weakest times
we fail to see
our one of a kind shine.
we forget what we can be.
until by some slim chance
we are all another eye can see.

i lay here,
cold and alone,
watching the stars above,
wondering if eyes, aside from my own,
can look into the darkest of skies
and see the light i shine.
is there another, at this same time,
looking at that same little star,
thinking these words of mine?

will my unique shine
soon be seen,
or shall i fade with time,
just as the stars in the night sky?

i know as of late my writing has been slipping compared to the likes of my other work like Untread Path, Broken Beyond Repair, and so on, but thank you for taking the time to read it anyways. i came to DP merely looking for a place to post and read great works, and have been openly welcomed into an amazing community of people. Just wanted to take a moment to say thank you.
