Love's Prison

By fenix2337

i know why you hold back,
i know why you just stare,
i know you want something more,
you want somebody who cares.
you see the opportunity,
you know we could strive,
you know it could be heaven,
if only we were given a chance to try.

your hesitance is justified,
and i cannot place blame,
if i were in your shoes,
i would hold back just the same.
living a life you dont want to live,
expected to show a love,
you dont want to give.
you live life for others,
sacrificing your needs,
making everyone else happy,
while inside you bleed.

one look into your eyes,
and the truth is told.
like the pages of an open book,
the torment inside publicly unfolds.
many wont see it,
they are blinded by their own desire,
but to those who take the time,
at a mere glance, you can see you're growing tired.

tired of feeling empty,
tired of being alone,
tired of being void
of all feeling of hope.

i would give it all,
for a chance to make you smile.
i would give it all,
to belong to your heart,
even if only for a while.
i would give it all,
to be the one to show you,
i would give it all,
to be the one you hold.

every time i look,
into those bright green eyes,
i can see the love,
yearning to break free inside.
yearning to love another,
yearning to be loved the same,
yearning to say i love you,
in true love's good name.

one could only hope,
to be the object of that desire.
i could only hope,
to fuel true love's fire.

***i know why you hold back and i know you cannot act. but i also know the possibility that could blossom if given the chance. just know that should you ever be free to make the choice, the chance is there. or more clearly put, the chance is HERE.

I liked this a lot as well, I second Hex. Honestly, until you mentioned the "bright green eyes", it almost was like you were talking to me as my former love. It was really eerie.
