Desert Of Dreams

By VVsinisterfairyVV

I awoke at dawn from the night’s horrible grasp.
A life full of memories in this empty house.
I seek to be lost; I seek to be found,
I seek anything away from here.

Wandering through the desert valley, searching for an answer amidst the dust of time forgot.
Oh, if only the better day would appear.
Finding myself falling deeper and deeper into the shadows of day and night.
One step closer to the edge,
A million more behind.

My journey took me further than even I was prepared to go,
I saw shadows on the moon.
And heard whispering in the sky…

As I drew closer to the clearing
The images grew stronger
People lying in the sand…crying and begging,
People living, people dying.

The village I have found…lain beyond the moon and stars…
The men were drinking and boasting of war;
The women danced wildly amidst the fire…
Cloaking their worried for another day.

And then a great book was brought forth and the crowd gathers closer, sexually driven on the words he may read…the words they must hear…

The village leader reads of love gone by, and nights we slipped away.
Nights we tried and the nights we died…
Nights we should…have just sat and cried…

Then they spotted me and knew of my presence…

I was asked to leave…I wanted to stay…

Paradise not found on this dusty day…
