Resurgence of Darkness
By Beluriel
Singing silence filled the air,
Seared and scorched by walls of flame,
Faces burned beyond repair,
When the Servants called the Name.
He stepped from darkness into light,
Contaminating the Holy air,
Into the chamber, large and bright,
Where priests bowed down their heads in prayer.
The Named One took in this ancient room,
His fires blazing, surging bright,
Through his power, now a tomb,
For the priests who served the Light.
The Servants fled the scene in fear,
Running from the blazing heat,
But neither did they see nor hear,
The flames that rose beneath their feet.
The Named One gathered in his flames,
And wrapped them 'round his body tight,
For now the One who was called by Name,
Would take his power to the night.
He rose up in the violent night,
And struck out for the nearby town,
But then, a brilliant, blinding light,
Surrounded him, and tore him down.
Down he fell, his body battered,
Writhing, screaming, filled with fright,
Hopes and dreams of victory shattered,
By the power of God's own Light.
