Walking down the side walk i wondered, how long has it been since i was
able to see where i was going, My road so far has been long and cold.
Huddled against the biting wind of life i held my coat of lies close to
brush off all that might touch me. Leaning forward and pushing up hill
against the wind I could only see my next step but not where the road led.
I remember once i came upon a fork in the road, ran head first into it
in fact. I had to choose between the long road in the dark, or the easy
road into the light. The choice was mine and mine alone. The warm was
so gentle and inviting. The sweet aromas wafting to me from the blooms
of a million timeless flowers, their petals ever drifting down but never
leaving the trees bare. The rolling green slopes under the whispering
trees begged for my weary soul to sit and rest a while in their simple
embrace. My dead heart beat once, a sensation long absent from this twisted
shell, and a tear lept from the ledge of my eye, only to be dashed upon
the ungiving cheek.
As i turned to walk down my lonely path into the dark, i caught out of
the corner of my eye paradise burning. My heaven turning to Dante's seventh
circle. The loving trees breaking and screaming the eternal torment.
The grass screaming their final scared thoughts while the burning snow
of shattered dreams turned it into a dead burning sand. The tears i caused
turning into a river of boiling blood sweeping out to hem me in to the
hell i created. I walked on in the cold winter storm, knowing i would
soon enough be returning to this place i forged with my own mind. I start
my climb to no where, stepping over the trickle of the river beginning,
never to see what is behind me again until i come home to rest forever.
The only thing to keep me warm, the glowing embers of my once perfect
world.
