Aftermath

By LilBlueCat

No muse sings tonight,
No myths from long ago
No heroes interfere with the dark.
No empath to ease the pain

No plan to escape the undergrowth of my own fears.
Just me, in my nakedness
As tears burn tracks into my face
and slide down my breasts.

You offer to hold my hand,
And I start to smile--
When I realize that I am dreaming again.

Dreaming as the blood rushes through my ears,
A hollow heartbeat tracking
Every second of another moonless night.
Another night without you by my side.

I fear I will never again be well.
This soul sickness no empath may tend,
So I reach for my nightshade - my relief -
As I light, for you, a candle to burn against my soul.

I hear you smile, next to me
So I reach for your hand--
Until I realize that I am dreaming once again.

No Muse.
No Heroes.
No Empath.
No myths from long ago.

Just a life without you, since you walked the starry
road.
My candles burn bright with your memory,
Tho they flicker with my haggard breath
As the nightshade seeps into my veins - my relief.

I feel your hand touch my face
So I reach for the light -
And I smile, as the dream ends.

There are some really good lines in here. Castle and I were talking and we think you should write songs. It would be very good as lyrics.
