Sipping the Addiction
By scorpionstale
Morning sun blinds your eyes
As you wonder which addiction to feed
Flooding vapors to the gently breeze
Drowning away the morning air
A chimney spews from your hand, your mouth,
Burns your lungs and mem'ries like cancer
Forgetting what it was to be young
Depriving your soul of sanity
Steem from the cup of life
Scorches your throat, your mind
Just trying to stay afloat
Above the addictions
~*~
A baby screams in the night,
Waking the Sleepless Mother.
He's hungry; she's depressed
They're sipping their addictions
~*~
Daddy, feed the baby,
Daddy go to work
Daddy make us happy
Sipping my addictions
And before the grueling day shall end
Another one will start again
And everyone picks a drug to take
Sipping our addictions.
