Sandglass

By scribble_scribe

I was an empty bottle of soda pop
forgotten on the beach.
I waited patiently for someone
to find me,
but, in came the tide
to take me for a ride.
The wind chased me
across the Northumberland Straight,
teasing me,
taunting me.
Caught in an undertow,
I broke into pieces against this rock.
The tide receeded.
I was left baking in the sun.
I am sandglass
found along Skinner's Pond.
My edges are smooth and dull.
My color a cloudy green.
I have been shaped
by water, sand and salt;
molded by time.
I have been here for years
waiting,
Waiting for you to find me.
