Self Portrait
By Derelict Dream
To not know if your headed
in a straight line,
To not know if someone is headed
straight toward you in kind,
To never be able to see
what others exclaim,
To be able to shoot
but never truly aim,
To watch the world go by
in a blur,
For it not to matter if you're still
or going 60 miles per hour,
To wish that you had the eyesight
of average people too,
To wish more that they had the ability
to see beauty as you do,
To be forced by society
to depend on people,
To have them damn you
for not praying under a steeple.
To have to tell them "No"
when they beg you to look,
To have to explain
you saw one in a book,
To have to feel the pain
of getting in people's ways,
To have to know that you'll be this way
until the end of your days.
To experience these things
is to be like me,
I'm sure that there are others
who have a Derelict Dream.
