JEALOUSY

By Sleepwalker

It sneaks up quietly and jumps on your back,
like lions in the bush waiting to attack,
ripping your heart out for its snack.
The color of its skin is green.

It opens old wounds that will never heal,
an ugly face hidden so not to reveal,
the life and love its going to steal.
The sweat on its brow a heavy sheen.

It leaves your life hollow, an empty shell
voices now echo through the empty well
of your soul that once was free from hell.
Its eyes are sharp and keen.

You're torn and tattered, a shattered wreck,
your world diminished to a tiny speck,
A lifeless body with a broken neck.
Its true form has now been seen.

It causes anger and mortal grief,
a perfect life stopped too brief,
now you beg for sweet relief
from jealousy to be wiped clean.
