Zeitgeist

By scorpionstale

I was bored, this was fun and I learned a new word. I'll take it away later, but thought I'd share. Maybe some will even like it...

A child opens the bible and prays to a god he cannot see
Believing in a force to recognize his existence.
Churning the thoughts of freedom in his mind
Disabling his presence
Envying those he loved
Fire consuming his hatred
Grasping on the edge of survival
Heaven awaits.

I once believed in that child
Justifying his deeds with faith
Killing became sport,
Lying cursed damnation
Meticulously creating a sanctuary
Nothing could penetrate

Only then would he find salvation
People only consisted of ash
Quietly burning themselves
Reddening the coals
Stirring his addiction
Taking him apart, letter by letter.
Undoing his own elimination
Vampires weary of his sanity

Witness this, if you will
X's painted on your heads
You will be next in his judgment,
Zeitgeists have no effect on me.
