Loving In Denile

By ashrain

From atop the precipace
we watch the masses.
Lights like fireflies
flicker in and out
mocking the lives they represent.
Silently,
we contemplate
diving down into the darkness
but neither are willing
to admit it.

We sit in silence,
clinging to one another
for warmth, for support, for feeling.
Emotions are intense
and neither of us
will ever speak.

We whisper with the wind
praying we arent heard
by each others ears.
We have no courage.
We have no will.
We only have ourselves,
and each other.
