Concerto

By Guttercat

As I sat there in the silence
Amidst a press of humanity
I feel a tremor beneath the wings
Myriad hearts aflutter
They take the stage, regal, stark
Whilst a violent calm enfolds me
Woodwind rushes fill the air
Scarlet tonal reverberations
The strings cut my soul
Tendered unto tenterhooks
Percussion cap struck
A bullet with butterfly wings
In that moment of purity I awake
To see you by my side
An angel without wings
Eternity has but passed me by
Forgive my trespasses
