Pretend

By no_independence

Pretend
an actor rehearsing lines
a stranger lives my life
as long as i'm not real
I remain untouchable
as long as I don't feel
all will be fine

Pretend
No one truly knows
my mask has no flaws
they think I am what I'm not
but I will never be free
until the truth finds me

Pretend
I'm so alone inside myself
secluded to preserve
I fear to let my true self out
then it could be ripped apart
So I will continue to pretend
and watch from within
