“Unkown”

By Lexicon

As I stared aimlessly, endlessly at the intricately detailed carpet
I realize that this thing, these feelings are only mine
You and I possess hearts that, seemingly will never intertwine

Staring at the tattered, torn, crinkled end of my shoelace
It is apparent that my arms will never meet your embrace
Fixated upon the metal, shining legs of the table and its empty glare
The feeling of frustration is overbearing, when I come to the realization that your heart was never there
While contemplating to the full extent, the fool I am for you
A phone ringing sent my heart soaring, only to find, it wasn’t you

I’m here because of you
I’m not here because of you
Eyes cast down dreaming, thinking, drinking
Sighing, crying because of you

Very vivid and heart wrenching, I was so captivated. The last stanza was so sad, and so poignant. Nice work. ~L
