Faded

By one-fanged vision

There's a burning picture lost in its ashes
at the foot of the fireplace.
Taking up space
Wasting my time

Empty is the morning song
the doves cry as their feathers are plucked
Gone within time
the bombs keep ticking

The slaughterhouse holds the true human nature:

smirks on faces as animals plea
beg for mercy
heads cave in,
blood floods the floor

A child skips to the back gate
to stroke the faithless
Unaware of the stained grass
and swollen tears

taking up space
wasting my time

the evening air swims through the windows
as she stand upon the slanting roof
head caves in
blood floods time

funeral procession is unchained by ambulance
chasing the streets for a broken body
empty time
blood floods the space

Newly wed couple at red light
kissing lips as child clings to mother
no pain, fantasy at a red light
nothing ruins the bliss of love

amblulance sirens crashing through traffic
screeching to the parking lot meters away
from an interupted romance
child screams
blood floods the floor
hearts evaporate by the heat of truth

the lights are green

  • A former member wrote: Great poem! I really like how you use the innocence of a child and a newlywed couple to make the death seem even more severe.

Good work, just got a little lost on some of the first stanzas.
