streetcorner carnival

By red_haze

the faded motley
of tired colors,
draped over skin and bone
decorates a humorless jester.

with a halo of dust,
like a wire wrapped about his throat...
his laugh peals out
on a fractured voice.

an unsmiling art
he dances alone,
among a fruitless human orchard
juggling his shoes while he freezes.

so instead,
he puts on his wings,
and sings for his supper.

Ahh! New works, and you didn't even tell me! ::cries quietly:: But this one is beautiful... I love the images and your choice of words - it's clarion and corrupt. I wish you'd posted it sooner, that I could muse over it that much longer! More more more!
