Solitary Tear

By alwaysnconfusion

The person that I care about most
called me, said he was doing 110
The next bridge pier is a mile away
Good bye Keith, you know i can't stay

I recall everything going black
The world an unfocused dizzy blur
I could not see straight
My knees buckled under the emotional weight

Gasping for air, I muttered out
I cant make the decision for you
nor can I make you stay
But it will forever turn, the rest of my life gray

A minute transformed into an eternity
The world halted its spin
My entire body went numb
A solitary tear, rolled down my chin

Goodbye, you know your my best friend
Its almost time to open the letter
The phones went silent
The conversation came to an end

I collapsed on the floor
Grieving in extraordinary pain
I sreeched at God like a banshee
In the process of going insane

Why was this happening now
Of all the things in this forsaken life
Why was I going to lose him
He pulled me through my suicidal strife

Its my fault I thought to myself
I didn't do enough to save him
He's gone and there is no second chance
I've failed, I saw the last 8 years in glance

Fury and rage ripped through my soul
My best friend just paid death's toll
The solitary tear fell to the ground
Followed by a thousand more

The phone rang seconds later
It was him
Sorry im coming home now
Im still alive.
