Under The Lush Mango Tree

By fritzwraith

Shut in this air-tight space,
in a black Chanel dress,
in Nine West stilettos
and Revlon-coated nails.

I was a so-so celebrity.
Now I've fulfilled my dream.
Endless fame comes with a price.
I've finally caught them!

It happened a month ago.
I never felt a thing.
It happened so fast.
The plane went down.

Sold my life's story.
Auctioned my possessions.
Countless biographies.
They ransacked my memory.

My beauty fades not there,
for I am captured in film & art.
I slowly turn ugly here,
as the mango tree bears more fruit.
