If we could

By Asteri

If we could one day
Just run away
Leaving behind the expectations of the world
The forced commitments to society

With naught chasing us into our humble abode
Far from this fast pacing world

Losing ourselves into the abyss of excitement
Experiencing for once how living in the present would feel
To experience just how living feels without our pasts to haunt us or our unwritten futures to guilt us

Would we ever want to leave?
Would we even care for the outside world?

Is it selfish?

Can't life forgive two people out of its misery?

How is life not selfish?

If forgiving two souls is too much for it.

I used to daydream, as a little girl, that one day I would leave everything behind and find myself nice spot in a forest somewhere, where I could forage and hunt for myself, and live alone, off of the wilderness. I outgrew that daydream for a spell, but now, reading this, I find myself yearning for that hidey hole in the forest- if only that wouldn't be selfish of me to do... Needless to say, you're work brought up a lot of buried emotions for me. Hard, difficult emotions, but ones that need to be felt. Thank you for sharing your work with the world ^.^
