The Uninvited

By Ctalj

Can you see the darkness?
Within it something lives.
Breathing and reaching and grasping.
O this entity cannot forgive.

Can you hear the silence?
Within it something breathes.
Heaving and trembling and gripping.
Such malevolence it conceives.

In the corner of the vast room sits a child so innocent.
Within the gloom, his emotions, the cries of the frightened.
Into the eyes of the entity which glisten.
The beast.
The demon.
The uninvited.
