Silent Night

By Meadowhawk

Cool darkness
lightless and blind
quiet
save for
imagined whispers

Ebony sea
velveteen and soft
lifeless
but for
the touch of shadows

Ancient darktide
endless and eternal
penetrating
seeping into
a racing heart

Colorless pitch
faceless and empty
cold
save for
the heat of fear

Silent night
secretive and mysterious
unknowable
to all
but the chosen
