The caress of honest lips

By aquiouss

Whisper to me
Press your lips against your glass and let the words fall gently from your lips
as you sip your drink slowly
Whisper about the girl
The one that left you with rusty splinters in your heart
or about your wounds that, that man in black fixed by sowing moths into your veins

Talk about the exact shade of your mother's eyes
as they'll roll backwards into her head...
long and hard enough for her to fortell the future. ..
each and every time you laughed

Stare blankly into the empty bottles that failed to stop the war
and tell me about that night that you stepped out of yourself

Tell me about your father
Talk about his hands
Were they as dry and gnarled as his voice?

Whisper about the endless inquiry,
the lofty cerebral dance of your voice on hers that gradually led to tears on the kitchen floor

Look forward in time and tell me about your child

Tell me about all the dark windows of your soul
Talk about why you really took all those pills
And how you got that scar

Whisper in jagged moans about where you stashed your cigarettes,
your diary, those rusty razor blades,
those medicines you stole
and just why you paint your flowers grey

Who stopped those vindictive karmic bombs from exploding under your eyelids?

Who stole time and caressed your eyelashes as they kissed the palms of kismet?

Tell me about your first impressions,
the coldest you've ever felt and how old you really feel

Talk about the most courageous you've ever felt,
the nicest girl on the train

When was the last time you felt truly free?
Let the tides of the night wash over your sad bones
as you finally find your true voice in this darkness
