Naked

By johnbevan17

Here I stand,
On this desert land,
Naked for all to see,
With no lies to hide behind,
No fig leaf off a tree,
Just a weeping soul,
Not half nor whole,
Stands in front of thee,

Tortured, whipped, pulled apart,
A lonely man,
With a bleeding heart,
Look at these scars left on my back,
These knife wounds,
left from lovers past,
Run deep within me,

Take a look through my sorrowed eyes,
of the pain and hurt I've felt inside,
Tear drops fall from my chiseled jaw,
In slow motion,
They splash and hit the floor,
From the heartache,
I've felt so long before,

So here I stand before you all,
Naked for you to see,
A lonely heart once torn apart,
For what has become an eternity,
Seeking a love that's not known of,
Each night I look to the sky above,
What will become of thee.

Perhaps it was the heartbreak, or how familiar the taste of loss and love. Or maybe a bit of it all, whatever the case, I am left in tears.
