Psalm of the Damned

By rwb35

Shadows ignite the ether
As night collides with dawn
The moment before the sun breaks the horizon
Oh so fleeting and so soon gone
How the children of ever-darkness flee
As the first birds of mourning awake
Hidden away in the sullen belief
So far from sweet release
Never to see the magic of the new day
Do they weep in their discontent?
Do they linger in a sea of doubt?
Trapped in the shade of obscene delights
Prisoners of obsession, never to get out
Wondering why they are even alive
Away from the impulse vendors
With their crucifixion hammers
And circumcision knives
Here they wait for the resurrection lost
Here where only cold silence abounds
Here never realizing the cost
Of cruel indifference crowned
These the forgotten, these the damned
With no choice left to them
But death by their own hand.
