When Once She Loved

By WinglessFaith

For a troubled man did she fall

She took a chance and gave him her all

Loving her through her fewest highs and deepest lows

He held her at night as she faced her foes

Taken with his heart black and blue

She found in him a genuine lover so true

In real love before she could not believe

Head in the clouds with she wanted to marry and conceive

Neither one ready for themselves to care

She was losing hope and him she tried to spare

He was lost in anger and apathy

But pushed her to stay in therapy

Stepping back for both our sake

He said to continue would be a mistake

Now she clings to what she still believes is worth the fight

Even though she knows he's right

Many lessons from him did she learn

For love no more will she yearn

Enough for him she knew she could not be

But when once she loved this she failed to see.
