Dear Depression

By WinglessFaith

You call my name
You tell me all is vain
On days when not a cloud graces the sky
You convince me the warmth kissing my skin is a lie
Lingering the corners of consciousness.
You dull my every experience with sadness
You beg the question so trite
Not what is wrong, but what is right
In this flesh cohabiting
You sing of loneliness relenting
Oh beast of burden and shame
You are the flower engorged on rain
Intimately acquainted we cry
Silently you hope I'll die
You find in me no forgiveness
My every bit of humanity you stress
Present in my shallow sigh
I wake with ambition and you ask why
You the arms I run to come night
Born with wings but you restrain me from flight
You cradle in hopelessness
Dear depression know you to be illness
