Electrically Confused

By BloodyMercy

What would you think if I began to care?
Would you find it unsettling?
Would it make you want to run the other way?

Significantly robotic in existence
Operating on little sleep or sustenance
Only the electricity that fires my mind
Grounded, I am shielded from your modules of pain
It doesn’t much affect me to think of your disdain.
Here’s the thing, I don’t care what you fucking think.
Take your tears, take your begging, take your jealousy
I don’t need it
I finally understand what I was meant to be
My chips are disconnected, artificial emotion discarded
Oddly enough, that in itself feels so cathartic

I finally understand the answer I have been searching
Why I can’t seem to feel for you
Why I’m not enough
It appears I’m not a robot.
I’m a soulless husk.

That is the only truth.
