Dogma v. Inner Self
By Jennanselmo
There is such sweetness to our sorrow
A bitter end to our war
The struggle of tomorrow
The hurt that hungers for more
There is an end to this light
A flame that burns within
We were blind before our sight
And so we will be again
Death of a martyr
Victory for the perverse
Do you still love me father
I feel much worse
Sinners be slain
But the sinless rise high
Filled with so much shame
Never questioning why
Taught to murder & preach
Educated by the sick & dying
May they now rest in peace?
Time to face what you’ve been hiding
I feel nothing, just an empty hole
Eyes glazed, altered chemistry
For whom the bell now tolls
Your demise, your destiny
Death of a martyr
Victory for the perverse
Do you still love me father
I feel much worse
Sinners be slain
But the sinless rise high
Filled with so much shame
Never questioning why
I want to feel the pain of glory
I want to see the tragedy of your days
Tell me another story
Come whatever may
The winds will push us
The falling rain will drown
But the blood will keep on pouring onto the ground
Give me your hand, I’ll find an escape
So we don’t have relive another mistake
Death of a martyr
Victory for the perverse
Do you still love me father
I feel much worse
Sinners be slain
But the sinless rise high
Filled with so much shame
Never questioning why
Stay close for evil lives all over this place
Take heed this journey is not one many will face
You were chosen to challenge the will of this land
You were raised to rise, so get up and stand
Acknowledge the enemy, allow yourself to bleed
For we all are human with human needs
Consecrate the union, lay down your hearts
Sacrifice the memory that is tearing you apart
No one judged you, no one but yourself
Time to place those urns onto your shelf
It’s not wrong to move on, but it’s wrong to forget
Fate brought me to a his casket, to view a person I never met
