A Letter For Scarlet

By MorganMoonlight

Dear Scarlet my sweet, may these words find you
To shelter and strengthen and guide you too
I remembered your birthday; it's coming up soon
But you won't hear from me because I want you to

Enjoy the time you have
Though you're gone, I'm still glad
You have reason to smile despite these dark days
Despite your father's death, you still had a chance to meet

Dear Scarlet my sweet, may these words find you
An umbrella in the rain; tourniquet for your pain
As years go by I pray wisdom would bloom
That faith and serenity would carry you through

Hush, you needn't say a word
I know the times, they were not right
Once a mystery, slowly I'm learning
How to breathe without you by my side

I wish you could see who I've grown to be
Once a womanizing junkie, by God's grace I'm now clean
I wish I could see who you've grown to be
Even though they sputter scorn, I am not afraid

Dear Scarlet my sweet, may these words find you
To light up the gold and the green in your eyes too
I remembered your birthday and I count down the days
And though we may both wish, you won't be hearing from me

Our time wrought with sex and misguided violence
But all I remember is your ardent caress
Our actions, they fade, but words still embrace
Though we swore hate, something brighter remained

I can't forget your kiss in the rain
And I pray you find someone worthy of taking my place
They say I can't judge, but I know he's not right for you
He doesn't see the

dawn
your smile ignites

He doesn't see you the way
your father and I
saw you

Once closer than flesh
now strangers on the Earth
I pray somehow and someway
You learn of all these words

I am here for you, thougn you'll never know
I'd take your suffering as my own
Neverland will never come back
There's no such thing as a second chance

Dear Scarlet my sweet, may these words find you
But you won't hear from me though your birthday is soon

a humbled confession sent out on a hopeful note, yet with a subtle ache for being reunited with Scarlett. My favorite line "An umbrella in the rain; tourniquet for your pain" ... nicely inked :)
