Lost at Sea

By LadyNovella

Silver mist surrounds
As waves come crashing down.
I cannot escape the salty-sweet air

Transfixed by the rhythmic surf,
I can do nought but stare as

Nightfall comes,
Bearing with it whispers
Echoes of your voice, your words.

One final voyage, my love,
And I’ll forsake the sea.
Just promise that you’ll wait for me.

I watched your ship sail forth
On that distant day, crossing the
Vast and turbulent water.

Your sails are canvas wings to bear you home.
Take flight, my love, from your far-off land,
Lord grant your oath hold true

Walk again these cliffs with me, and life
That is now too cold and cruel to bear,
Will again be too beautiful for words.

If only the sea
Would offer you up to me.
