Distortion

By DuchessofDoom

I’ll wear these bright sunglasses on my face
And a false smile to match
All the bright colors shown through the lens
If I take them off, the world will be engulfed in gray and brown
The colors of dried blood and glistening intestinal fluid
Everything shining and still and dead
So for now I wear these sunglasses
To hide these unsmiling eyes
That have shed too many tears
And paste a semblance of a smile on my face
A farce but no one cares enough to look beneath the mask

Nice emotion put into this, "And paste a semblance of a smile on my face" I love that line. I felt like I wanted there to be more lines, but that's probably because I liked reading this and wanted more, and not because I feel it needed more. - BSBB

thanks, that line is one of my favorites as well! I was going to write more, but it seemed to take away too much. maybe i'll post a sequel.
