Realistic Dreamscape

By BloodyMercy

I find myself here in a strange and dark place
Something growing on me has left me here to wait
Shadows rolling through the fragments of my mind
Whispers of something more refined
The extrication of the tangled webs I see
Desolate glimpses of sweet memory
Escaping this only in elusive slumber
It is the perpetual release for which I hunger

Dreaming of darker places than I have ever known
It all feels strangely familiar… like a welcoming home
Rolling hills of clouds on which I walk
Moving through the bolts of lightning on wisps of self-doubt
Seeing farther than imaginations deem possible
There is something I have found:

The scent from a distance – ethereal in nature
Intoxicating – mesmerizing my senses
I can’t help myself…

I awaken to a cold and distant world
There is still much here to accomplish
Conquering tasks of futures untold
Yet it feels so alien – regrettably so.
Searching my way through this
There is something I have found:

Beauty seldom spoken of
Soft and vividly defined
Flowing tendrils of silky locks
I can’t help myself…

I awaken to the break of day
deep seated in roots of wood and stone
volumes untold, unintentionally maintaining the grip on my soul

Am I dreaming…?
Am I awake…?
The reality or illusion
The thoughts swimming in my mind
The smell of softened skin
The anticipation welling inside
The glimpse of a defined smile
The angled brow of subtle disbelief
The control of inflection – carefully measured in each inviting breath

Awake or dreaming matters not
The turmoil… no…  the surreal bliss
It is there on either plane of existence
