Words of a Red Army Soldier
By DeafSoldier
Sometime in 1945....
We drive into Germany. We write letters to our family. The censors
didn't have to edit words out, as they were all written with words of revenge
and victory. As we drove onto Niedenburg, the town was empty, deserted.
All the Germans are now fearing the might of our Red Army! We start
to torch the place, and through the haze of smoke and dim fire-lights,
I could make out the body of a dead woman. I looked closer, and I saw
a telephone reciever between her scrawny thighs. I did not bat an eye,
as I've been living with Death since 1940. I looked around and I saw
a group of German soldiers, right before they were executed. I watched
them fall and die. I did not pity them, but I felt happy. Happy is
the heart as you drive through a burning German town. We are taking revenge
for everything, and our revenge is just. Fire for fire, blood for blood,
death for death.

You did great man! The numbness you to death you speak of because soldiers were so used to it, is very insightful. Great theme again. This is an interesting war to think about.
