Survivors Guilt

By Lil Demon Lady

How do they expect us to deal with the pain?
To deal with the guilt?
The horrors that come with surviving?
We see their faces in our sleep,
Neverending nightmares are ours to keep,
We wake up screaming,
Wishing we'd stop dreaming,
We feel the blood on our hands,
Hear the never ending demands,
Watch them die again and again,
Pray for relief from our sin,
We remember the looks on their faces,
Frozen in time, fear filled places,
It doesn't take much to send us back,
A smell or sound will give us an attack,
Fill us with fear, anger and rage,
Sometimes they want to put us in a cage,
Sometimes...we wish they would,
To keep us away from those we could,
Hurt and harm in our madness,
We fill our loved ones with too much sadness,
Because they can't help or understand,
The insanity that grips us unmanned,
We shake and shiver,
Praying to be delivered,
But there is no relief,
As we fight the belief,
That they will come again,
And finally give us the end,
In a way we fear and yet depend,
A way to end the grief,
To finally let us sleep.

Man... Heavy stuff. I hope you still get some kind of peace. It's always the ones that never made it that are remembered. Thanx for sharing, I could feel the instability in this write.
