Looking Out!

By Lady Poetry

Looking out!

At the top of the escarpment she stood.
In a strange surveillance of the area.
She seeks only the love she lost.
Thick black veil hid her features.
Dressed in ebony for the love she lost.

The moon was high.
She kissed the sky.
Firmament brimming with cold fired emotion.
The moon.
Her corona glowing.

It was the eve of Christmas.
The night he'd said goodbye.
Watched her silently
As she moaned her sad lament.
There every year 'pon the that day he went.

Another curious soul.

From a distance stand and spy.
The midnight hour rolls in.
Wind will rise without reason.
It will topple her from her feet.

She seems so real.
He feels her pain.
Glued to the spot.
He's compelled to stay.
She rolls from edge.
With a fearful wail.
The sound of death occurring.

He needs to check that she's okay.
Goes to the edge.
Peers over.
That wind.
It knocks him off his feet.

A few moments on the ridge.
For a short moment in time your life takes his place.
They romp and play as never before.
It's not forever.
It's never more.
Icy death snatched him.
A moment in time she's sated.
She's took his life,
Just to hold her sweet lover once more.

Every year curiosity wins
Always outweighs fear.
Another victim in her spell.
This year another sad victim fell!
