Ne Plach, Devchonka
By DeafSoldier
As I go off to battle,
For Comrade Stalin,
In his army of steel,
I tell my girl, tears in her eyes:
"Ne Plach, Devchonka."
As I travel by boxcar,
I think about her.
When I survived the massacre in Stalingrad,
I write to her, and said:
"Ne Plach, Devchonka."
When I survived the onslaught at Kursk,
As my comrades burned in their coffins of steel,
And as we pushed back the Fascists,
I wrote to her, and told her:
"Ne Plach, Devchonka."
When I ran through the ruins of Berlin,
And planted the flag of the Motherland,
On the ruins of the burning Reichstag,
I wrote to her, in happiness, and said:
"Ne Plach, Devchonka."
As I returned home,
And as I embraced her,
Tears in our eyes, tears of happiness,
I told her once more:
"Ne Plach, Devchonka"
