Precious Friend

By Ekoe-Angelee

 My darling sweetest love,

No one will ever replace,

The flame I see burning,

When I look upon your face.

You have no way of knowing,

What my heart holds deep within,

When I let it out for the showing,

You will learn the meaning of friend.

Your precious words are spoken,

Straight to my heart they go,

The tenderness that’s felt inside,

No one will ever know.

You give me strength when needed,

You give me love un-end,

To me you are the greatest,

To me a precious friend.

Different from what it used to be,

And miles may keep us apart,

Forever you are close to me,

Forever you are in my heart.

Author's Note:

I wrote this poem for my aunt when she disappeared. I was 14 and sad without her. She was my best friend. She died the day I wrote the poem. Her body was found on Bourbon street in New Orleans. She died on her son's 5th birthday. I miss her. :'(

Thank you. I think about my aunt every day. It was like yesterday, waiting for her to show up at my cousin's birthday party. We waited all through the night. We didn't know the horrific events that were happening to her at the time. I am glad she will not feel that kind of pain again in her life. I keep her memory alive because she was a beautiful woman inside and out. I miss her. I apologize for the loss of your friend.
