I'm waiting.

                                                                                                                03/17/88

I don't remember waking up this morning, but
after what I recall as a blank period of time,
I ended up in the kitchen.

My husband Henry, had been bawling his eyes out.
I put my hand on his shoulder. "Henry...Henry, sweety, what's wrong?"
No answer. Just tears.
The door bell rang, but Henry didn't move. So I went to get the door.

I walked through the living room.
Something felt odd... our living room always felt so lively...
but on this day..
dark and empty.

As I reached for the door knob, my hand went straight through the door.
"...Oh my...what...?" I thought to myself.
The door bell rang again, so I tried once more.
My hand went through.

"Henry! Henry, come here please! Hurry!" I screamed in panic.
No answer... I still heard him crying.
All became still. All became quiet.

"I'm dead." I slowly said to myself.

With all that remained in me, I crawled to the kitchen.
"Henry..." I cried as I reached for him.

"Come back! Come back, come back, come back!" He screamed through the tears.
"Why did You leave me? Why did you leave me, why did you leave..?" He cried out.

" I didn't leave... I'm here." He couldn't hear me.
"I'll wait my love. I'll wait as long as I have too." I choked...

                                                                                                         11/8/92

"Push!" Henry yelled in excitement.
"Ahhhhhh... I can't!" The woman yelled back.
"C'mon Emily, You can do it. Give me one more big push!" The doctor said.
"Ahhhhhhhhh!" She screamed again and let out a huge breath.
"Congratulations, it's a girl." The doctor happily said.
"My little princess." Henry said in a soft, gentle voice.

                                                                                                         04/16/01

"Stop comparing me to her!
"I'll never be your "beloved Cynthia!" Emily screamed.
"Sylvia. Her name is Sylvia." He answered back.
"WAS! WAS HER NAME!" She hatefully replied.
"...I can't do this anymore. Henry said in a pain-filled voice.

Henry went out to the car and cried.
"I miss you so much, Sylvia. We were suppose to die together, you know?
But you left. You left me." He whispered.

"I didn't leave my love." I said in a calm voice.
"I'm wating,"
