Distance

By WarTorn

Ponder me these thoughts my once dear lover

If I’m the worst thing that ever happened to you

Then why do oceans still speak my name

Lapping within your ice cold heart

Begging to melt away the pain

Fading before a sincere start

Asking me to count the ways

My mind begs to formulate a plan

Rewrite the sins of my yesterdays

Replace this pain with day lilies

No longer settling to be a better man

An elevated stature of supreme form is achieved

High enough to grace the stars

But far enough away to forget your name
