Maiden of the Stars
By alesana
this is an old one of mine but I may as well put it up. can't hurt
Whisper secrets in my ear, o wind
What I considered sacred
now rescind.
Tell me of the songbirds and the owls
Of moon and
wolf and why he howls.
Wrap me in your arms,
O maiden of the
stars.
There she lies - the silver goddess
Ankle skirt and pure
white bodice.
Thus she made me such a promise
Bid release my
gold-silk chrysalis.
She swore to me a palace
With a throne and
silver chalice.
And so this maiden gave me naught
Not an aliquot
of what I sought,
But delivered me to filthy grave.
Lay me
without shield nor glaive,
Advise me how to thrive, o tree,
alone
here, lacking company.

Wow! Love it, thank you for posting. There's such a strong essence of loneliness and an undercurrent sense of longing here. Thoroughly enjoyed reading it and your metaphors are spot on.
