There Was Once Love

By pureevil8

I sit in a dark room alone,

Waiting for the demons to come,

And drive you from my mind,

The thoughts of the nightmares you caused,

Fill the air in the dark room,

Making every breath an agonizing pain.

Crouched in the corner like a beaten dog,

Looking for some kind of release,

Searching effortlessly for an escape,

But no escape can be found,

And the darkness encompasses my body,

Settling upon my soul like a plague,

Infesting me with unbridled hatred.

I feel as if the walls are closing in,

But I cannot see them coming,

And they will surely cause my death.

In a way both I guess. I was in a very dark place for a very long time, in some ways part of me will always live in that place.
