Endless Path

By Sin Amor

St. Christopher, give me endless tracks of highway
The open road is the only place I feel like myself
I think yesterday was a Tuesday
I left my cellphone on the shelf

And i've flown on the devil's ride
I never lost my pride
Sometimes fell by the way side

I cried on the shoulder of angels,
Lit  roman candles,
I prayed that you couldn't tell.

I tried to be a friend to you
I didn't know what to do
I couldn't choose between the two.

Adeona, protect me as my way is shown
My grave will be your honoured shrine
I will keep nothing as my own,
Nor this body, soul or mind.

Author's Note:

I don't normally make poems that rhym. I feel the structure limiting, but on occasio i do it for something different. I'm not sure how this one came out, there are parts i like and parts i don't like, but i may just be being overly critical of myself.

I mean, this reads like a poem, to me, and yeah, the rhyme is a funny thing, I sometimes avoid it, but I seem to like alliterative verse if nothing else... I like the image at the end, and religious themes tend to attract my attention, but I would probably seek to delete some of the 'I's ... however... that is just personal preference. Welcome to the valley and thanks for sharing.

Yeah, thats actually really close to my own opinion of this piece. I'm glad i'm not entirely incognizant in my own critique of it. I considered getting rid of all the I's but then decided to leave them there for some reason.
