To Watch

By Cindy-ydniC

Window watching
Watching windows
Life outside seems so distant, blurry and artificial
High in sky scratching brick blocks
High above life, new and renovations
Regeneration, relocation, restoration, retardation- the new generation is one that is plain old fashioned folly

Watching windows
Windows watching
Existence above in the lost, concealed tower...
Ostracized, abandoned, forgotten
Left to wilt like a rose,
Watching on the reflection of the window the good years fade away

Window watching
Watching windows
Insomnia kidnaps dreams only for the Stockholms syndrome to rescue them
Exhausted, unable to repose, pushed and shoved by the notion of time
Staring outside at the rough world- a mere observant
Boxed in and waiting to pass away, to be packed away

  • A former member wrote: a very refined perspective, eloquently expressed with sensibility and class... those windows... how they move and twist, colors morphing and swirling before our eyes... and yet they stand so still, so cold, and the world fades in the distance... the observant.... that which is merely observed by the watcher, the observer, and the quality of being watchful, patient.... peering closely... there is an existential tone and moment here, an alienation and solemn dull pain.... very well written. thank you and welcome to the valley, I thoroughly enjoyed this
