The Prison Rose

By Poetic Warlock

A rose has been growing here with tears for years
In my heart and in my cell
But now I must send it out,for without a doubt
It doesn't belong here in this hell
So to you I give this rose from the garden of my heart
And though it was raised in prison, please allow it a fresh start
Let it warm your heart with love, keep it safe and strong
For it has lived on tears but it will never do you wrong
It needs a lot of love,so don't ever make it cry
And most of all, don't send it back
For the prison rose will surely die!!!

  • A former member wrote: i agree with natalie...i've always feared imprisonment. No one can know that hell, or how it wilts things inside that take years to grow back or may not grow back at all. That you kept your rose alive speaks much. It will absorb the sun of its new life more greedily for being in the dark so long, and its need for saline will be replaced with a cry for fresh water.
