On The Bridge

By goingnowhere

I sit on the bridge

I sit staring into the cold swirling water below

Just below the ice

It seems out of place there

Or maybe

Just maybe

I’m the one out of place

Should I join with it

Will my cold hard heart be one with the water

Can it be

That this is meant to me

My cold watery grave

Or

Just another day of

Loneliness and fear

I sit on the bridge

Watching the cold water slide gracefully away

Under the ice

Kept distant from me

Maybe someday

I just might break the ice

To flow with that cold water
